Makes 1/4 cup
From the Toolbox:
- Measuring Cups
- Measuring Spoons
- Small Saucepan
- Wooden Spoon
Ingredients:
- Good quality balsamic vinegar
- Sugar
Directions:
- Measure 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar into the small saucepan.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon sugar until it dissolves.
- Heat the vinegar and sugar over medium heat to a low simmer.
- Continue to simmer until the vinegar is reduced by half, usually just under ten minutes.
- The reduction should be very dark and syrupy, coating a spoon and having an intense aroma and flavor.
- Use on salad, with fruit, or on broiled or grilled chicken, lamb, fish, or vegetables. You can even try it on vanilla ice cream!
