  • Small Saucepan
  • Wooden Spoon

Ingredients:

  • Good quality balsamic vinegar
  • Sugar

Directions:

  • Measure 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar into the small saucepan.
  • Stir in 1 tablespoon sugar until it dissolves.
  • Heat the vinegar and sugar over medium heat to a low simmer.
  • Continue to simmer until the vinegar is reduced by half, usually just under ten minutes.
  • The reduction should be very dark and syrupy, coating a spoon and having an intense aroma and flavor.
  • Use on salad, with fruit, or on broiled or grilled chicken, lamb, fish, or vegetables. You can even try it on vanilla ice cream!
